Cpt. John Price

Captain John Price, callsign Bravo Six, is a British special forces sniper and the main protagonist of the Modern Warfare franchise (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare/Modern Warfare Remastered, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2/Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3). He is also a main character appearing in Call of Duty Online and Call of Duty: Heroes. He is a member of the British SAS and often wears a boonie hat during field operations.

John "Soap" MacTavish

Captain John "Soap" MacTavish was the deuteragonist of the Modern Warfare franchise, and also appears in Call of Duty: Heroes, as well as Call of Duty Online. He is the main playable character in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a sergeant and special forces soldier, serving as the 22nd S.A.S. Regiment's sniper and demolitions expert, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as a captain and the Field Commander of Task Force 141, along with Captain John Price with Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson and Lt. Simon "Ghost" Riley under his command.

Simon "Ghost" Riley

Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley is a British special forces operator, and a prominent member of Task Force 141, known for his iconic skull-patterned balaclava, headset, and dark red sunglasses.

Ghost appears as a main character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 2: Ghost, Call of Duty: Online, Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish, Call of Duty: Heroes, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. He also appears as a customization option in Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Alex Mason

Captain Alex Mason is a CIA operative and retired Marine Force Recon Captain. He is the main protagonist and the main playable character in Call of Duty: Black Ops. He returns as a deuteragonist in Call of Duty: Black Ops II as the main playable character for the 1980s missions (excluding Suffer With Me). He also appears as an NPC in Black Ops DS and as a playable character in Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified. In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, he's one of the four Archetypes brought back to life, possibly because of the efforts of Project Blackout. He later returns as a supporting protagonist in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Viktor Reznov

Captain Viktor Reznov (Russian: Виктор Резнов) is a major character featured in Call of Duty: World at War and the Black Ops series. He was a Soviet squad leader of the Red Army in Call of Duty: World at War during World War II. His relationship and influence on Dimitri Petrenko and Alex Mason plays a major part in Call of Duty: Black Ops. He is a playable character in the flashback level, "Project Nova" in Call of Duty: Black Ops. He makes a "return" in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Reznov is heard in the Intel file, "From Vorkuta with WTF" in the Specialist HQ mode and is one of the "icons" characters of the Blackout mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. He is also the first of the four Archetypes.

General Shepherd

Lieutenant General Shepherd was an officer in the United States Army in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 who commanded the United States Marine Corps, U.S. Army Rangers, Task Force 141 and his own elite army that was known as Shadow Company. He started out as a supporting character for the player in Modern Warfare 2 only to reveal himself as the main antagonist of the game and the grand architect of World War III. He wielded a .44 Magnum as his signature weapon, though the player could only acquire it in the level, "Museum".

Imran Zakhaev

Imran Zakhaev (Russian: Имран Захаев) was a Russian arms dealer, revolutionary and Ultranationalist terrorist leader who is the main antagonist of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. He is the leader of the Ultranationalist Party and "Four Horsemen", father of Victor Zakhaev and the cunning mastermind behind the uprisings in Russia and the Arabian Peninsula. He survived an assassination attempt by a younger John Price which he lost his left arm. He was shot through the head and killed by John "Soap" MacTavish in the level, "Game Over". It was through Zakhaev's lasting machinations and ideals that the catastrophes of World War III occurred in 2016, five years after his own death. He was also featured in the DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts called the Legend Pack.

Vladimir Makarov

Vladimir Makarov (Russian: Владимир Макаров) (Also referenced as Vladimir R. Makarov in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Vladimir A. Makarov in Modern Warfare 3) is the main antagonist of the Modern Warfare franchise and the leader of an Ultranationalist terrorist cell and Imran Zakhaev's protégé. Makarov was the unseen overarching antagonist in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the secondary antagonist of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the main antagonist of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. As well, he appeared as a customization option in Call of Duty: Ghosts. He was the grand mastermind behind World War 3 and the cause of the entire series' events, always pulling the strings from behind the lines as the puppet master.
